The project has seen the construction of a roundabout junction on the A34 Stone Road to provide access to the new Pets at Home development.

Permanent road marking will be reinstated this weekend following an overnight southbound closure on Saturday, the 23rd of March, between 8pm and 6am. The northbound lanes will remain open. On Sunday all temporary traffic management will be lifted.

The southbound closure will be on the section between the A51 Aston roundabout and A513 Redhill roundabout. A signed diversion route in place via A5013, A519, A51. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained during the closure.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways team built the roundabout, which has been funded by commercial property developer Stoford.

The scheme includes improved cycling and pedestrian facilities, a signalised crossing, new bus stops and improved street lighting.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams, said:

“This has been a major scheme to provide safe access to the Pets at Home development that is creating hundreds of jobs in our county, as well as improving traffic flow.

“It’s fantastic that it will be completed this weekend following a final night’s work, with all traffic management then lifted.

“We know this has been a lengthy project and caused some disruption, so we’d again like to thank people for their understanding while work has taken place.

“We’re pleased to have delivered another scheme to support business, job creation and improve the road network.”

Employment opportunities at the 670,000sq ft facility are being advertised and can be found at: www.petsathomejobs.com
