Eight children from Stone’s Pirehill First School have put on their trainers and began a walking challenge to raise money for local mental health charity “The Hope Project” and to help fund a new outdoor learning area at their school.
The team of eight children is made up of eight and nine year olds who attend Pirehill First School in Walton, Stone.
The children decided that a 160-mile charity walk would be the ideal way for them to raise some funds for two projects that they cared greatly about.
Firstly the children identified the local mental health charity “The Hope Project” which works with schools, parents and young people to help tackle mental health issues in the area.
Secondly, the children were excited to be able to raise money that would go towards funding a new outdoor learning area at their school.
The group initially set a fundraising target of £500, but they smashed through that in a mere three days! With a revised fundraising target of £1,000, people have already donated more than £1,200, so their “new-new” target is £2,000!
Max, Scarlett, Mia, Seth, Ava, Sienna, Evelyn and Sam from year four are splitting the distance of 160 miles between them throughout March 2022.
All money raised will be split in half between the two good causes.
