An energy company is looking to build a wind turbine at farmland near Stone.
Hallmark Green Power – which says it seeks to find renewable energy solutions for its clients – has been tasked by the owner of Walton House Farm in Common Lane (near Walton) to investigate the feasibility of constructing a 55m-high turbine.
Government legislation requires energy companies to seek the views of the local community prior to submitting a formal planning application for a wind turbine. Around 200 letters were posted to residents within the surrounding area of Walton House Farm notifying them and giving them details of how to comment on the proposal.
The pre-application consultation was discussed by members of Stone Town Council’s planning committee at their meeting on 6th November, where members were unanimously opposed to a wind turbine in this location.
If a planning application is submitted to Stafford Borough Council for the turbine, local people will be able to have their say as part of the planning process. We’ll keep you posted if an application goes in.
Hallmark Power submitted an unsuccessful planning application last year for turbines at farmland near Aston Lodge, and also applied to construct turbines at land in Cotwalton.
