The organiser of Stone Puppet Festival is hoping to stage another festival in the town in 2016 and has appealed for local people to get involved.
Subject to funding, festival organiser David Leech says he’s hoping to stage another weekend event in July and is looking for local people to volunteer in the run-up to the big weekend. If you’re interested in getting involved, an informal meeting is being held at the Crown Hotel on Saturday 6th February at 7pm.
Last year’s August festival was a huge success, with puppet companies from all over the country descending on the town to stage paid-for shows in the Crown Hotel, and with lots of free entertainment on offer, including puppet-making workshops, shows, storytelling, exhibitions and more. There are lots of photos from last August’s Stone Puppet Festival HERE, and some great videos HERE.

Puppeteers from all over the UK have expressed an interest in coming to Stone again, and we’ve had enquiries from puppeteers in Bulgaria and Russia too, so word has really spread. Now we really need local people to get involved to help make it happen.”[/box]
Last year, lots of children got involved in the festival through puppet-making workshops held at local schools. David says he wants the festival to involve the local community even more in 2016, starting with the volunteer meeting at the Crown Hotel on 6th February.

David produces the new range of Pelham puppets for the toy trade. He recently made puppets for Celebrity Big Brother.
