Emergency services attended Downs Bank on Sunday afternoon after a man was found deceased near Washdale Lane in Meaford. Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services called to the scene
Staffordshire Police said they were called at around 1:50 pm on Sunday 12th October to Washdale Lane in Meaford following reports of a sudden death.
Officers attended alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
In a statement, police said:
“A man, in his 30s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious. Next of kin has been informed and a file will be prepared for HM coroner.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added:
“We were called at 1:14 pm on Sunday to an incident nearby to Washdale Lane in Meaford, Stone. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
Upon arrival we found a man. Sadly, it was clear that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
Investigation
Police say a report will now be prepared for the coroner. No further details have been released.

The area around Downs Bank was closed while emergency services worked at the scene. The National Trust site is a popular local beauty spot, and many residents expressed their sadness after learning of the incident.
