Police warning after reports of cold callers in Stone

Residents in Stone are being urged to be cautious after reports of cold callers offering roofing services in the area.

Two Staffordshire Police officers in uniform, one facing away wearing a vest marked "POLICE", and the other slightly out of focus in the background beside a patrol car.

Staffordshire Police said people had been approached by traders who changed the price once work was agreed. Officers are reminding residents not to accept services from anyone they do not trust.

David Wall, from Staffordshire Police, shared the alert through the Staffordshire Smart Alert system, asking residents to remain vigilant.

“If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a company offering services, do not accept the work and contact the police on 101,” he said.

Police have also encouraged people to display a ‘no cold callers’ sign clearly visible at their property to help deter uninvited visits.

Residents looking for reputable local traders can find verified listings in A Little Bit of Stone’s Business Directory.

Anyone who feels pressured or unsafe should call 999 immediately.

They are telling people that silver foil insulation is needed on the back of the rafters , totally the wrong thing to do .
Any timber in the roof needs a free flow of air around it and the insulation should be at ceiling level
