Stone post office will move into the Co-op supermarket across the road in February or March next year.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager, said in a letter to the chief executive of Stafford Borough Council: “I received a very small number of comments from customers and local representatives during the consultation period, mainly in support of the move. This move will secure Post Office services to the local community in the longer term.
“Customers will benefit from a modern, open-plan branch in newly refurbished premises, longer opening hours and selected Post Office services will also be available at the retail counter during shop opening hours.”
Details of where the post office branch will be located in the Co-op supermarket have not been revealed yet. The date it will open is currently being finalised but Mr Wales said it would be February or March. The future of the current post office building is unclear.
The main post office will be open 8am to 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 8am to 6pm on Wednesday; 8am to 5.30pm on Saturday; and will be closed on Sunday.
Post Office services will be available from the supermarket’s retail counter from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday; and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
