Stone post office will be open again later this week, with a temporary Postmaster in charge.
Stafford Borough Council had been in talks with Post Office Ltd about using their vacant area office in Station Road as a temporary branch.
But the Post Office will be re-opening the High Street site on “Thursday afternoon or Friday morning”, with a temporary Postmaster in charge until a more permanent solution can be found.
The High Street branch closed unexpectedly on 1st July, leaving the town without a post office and forcing many people to travel to alternative branches in Tittensor, Yarnfield, Barlaston and Stafford.
A Post Office spokesman said: “We aim to reopen the Stone Post Office branch, at the existing location, by the end of the week. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers during the temporary closure of this branch.”

About time too. I think if we had to travel to Tittensor any longer we would have been going out of business as well, extra fuel costs and paying more to post parcels than we did at Stone?????

Luckily you can claim the cost of your mileage back at 45p per mile for the first 10k miles per year.

Good to see that we will be once again with a post office. It’s vital for our town that we have a proper post office and I’m glad to see that after almost 3 weeks it will be open again.
