Local young adults aged 16 – 25 who are out of work and education can access a Stone based Prince’s Trust Programme starting in September.
Students will embark on a personal development journey with the guidance of experienced professionals who really care and are professionally and personally invested in achieving meaningful positive outcomes for our young people.
Participants can look forward to a guaranteed positive outcome if they complete the programme- aiming to help them achieve employment, further education, volunteering or training.
The programme is the ‘Level 2 Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills’ and it covers the following Modules-
- Planning for personal Development
- Teamwork
- Community Project
- Work Experience
- Presentation Skills
- Career Planning
- Supporting Others In the Community.
During the 12-week programme, the young adults will be challenged to:
- Explore mental health resilience through comprehensive and involved workshops.
- Take part in an action-packed and amazingly fun 3 day residential at ‘Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre’.
- Develop employability, social integration skills and the resilience to enter or re-enter education or the world of work.
- A consistent theme of teamwork requiring them to work together to overcome common adversities, solve problems and develop together as a successful and supportive unit.
- Take on their own group community project, making a positive difference to the area where they live.
- Gain work experience in something they’re interested in that compounds or redirects their next steps into employment or further education, potentially becoming that vital stepping stone to success.
- Boost their confidence and self-esteem and reduce anxiety.
- Develop their English and Maths skills.
- Challenge their perceptions of the world around them and help them grow self-awareness and healthy positive attitudes towards others and the opportunities available to them.
- All provided by an inclusive, differentiated, heavily detailed and jam-packed 12-week scheme of work! Delivered by attentive mentors and reinforced through a frequent and robust one to one process.
The programme (and taster sessions) will take place at Stone Fire Station, The Fillybrooks, ST15 0DN
Taster days are on Thursday 16th September and Thursday 23rd September between 11am and 1pm.
The organisers will reimburse all travel costs upon presentation of receipt for any prospective candidates. Successful candidates will have access to funds for travel around the Stone, Stoke, Stafford areas (and potentially beyond). Transport costs should be no barrier to a young person’s progression!
