A special procession will mark the transfer of St Dominic’s Priory School to a charitable trust on Thursday 26th May.
The school will be marking the transfer with a procession from Market Square to the school in Station Road, where the gates will be officially opened. The school’s brass band will be taking centre stage.
The Dominican Sisters in Stone are in the process of transferring ownership to a new charitable trust recently established by parents. This trust will assume responsibility for the school from 26th May with a new board of governors, which will include, for the first time, four elected parent governors. Lord Stafford, a former St Dominic’s pupil, will be the patron.
Headteacher Pat Adamson said: “With the help of parents, teachers, pupils and associates of the school, we have a new vision in going forward, one that the new trust and ourselves look forward to. These are very positive and exiting times.
We have worked hard and want to celebrate what we have achieved over the last few months. For us, this procession will mark a milestone in the history of the school and the start of a new beginning as we move into an even more successful future. I do hope that as many of our supporters, including local residents here in Stone, will join us.”
Pupils, teachers, parents, friends and associates are welcome join in with the procession, which will start at Market Square on Thursday 26th May at 9.45am.
