A puppy that was left for dead at Downs Banks is being nursed back to health at Shires Vets in Stone.
Vets and nurses are caring for Simba, as he has been named, after he was found dumped under a hedge at Downs Banks on Sunday. Staff say he was in a very bad state, barely weaned, and with open, necrotic wounds, and they say he wouldn’t have lasted long if he hadn’t been found by a family who were out for a walk at the beauty spot.
Simba is managing to lap his milk substitute and eat some special puppy formula, but he’s not out of the woods yet. Staff say his wounds are going to take some special care, but they’re hoping he’ll pull through.
Many people have asked on the Shire Vets Facebook page about donating towards the costs of Simba’s care. The surgery posted: “Cases like this are funded entirely by ourselves, and as it was only last week we had a stray kitten that needed over £300 of treatment and surgery, any help would be gratefully received. Please call 01785 813955 or pop in if you are keen to donate.”
