Queen’s Baton Relay to take to the water as part of Stone leg

Queens Baton Realy - StoneThe Queen’s Baton Relay will take to the slalom at Stone and Stafford Canoe Club after it arrives in the town on the afternoon of Tuesday the 19th of July on its way to the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham at the end of the month.

The baton will be in the town on Tuesday, the 19th July and between 3pm and 4pm, and there will be a number of road closures in place along the route; check out the end of the article for more details.

The QBR organising committee have said that the baton will arrive at around 3:20pm, from Stafford, at the Stone Leisure Centre. From the leisure centre, it will be carried through the town and back up the High Street before returning to the Canoe Club.

After its visit to Stone, It will leave for Staffordshire Moorlands via vehicle afterwards.

Timings are supplied by the QBR organising committee and are subject to change.

Road Closures for the Queen’s Baton Relay

Stafford Road A520 off A34

Closed from 3pm – 4pm
Stafford Road will be closed after the junction with Stafford Close.
Traffic will be diverted straight over the Fillybrooks/Stafford Roundabout down the A34 to Newcastle Road

Stafford Street A520

Closed from 3pm – 4pm
Stafford Street will be closed after its junction with Abbey Street

M&S / Stone Leisure Centre Car Parks

Closed from 3pm – 4pm
No entry or exit between these times
