The Red Lion re-opened tonight, with new landlady Tanya Moran behind the bar – and there were lots of people waiting to celebrate when the doors opened at 6pm!
The popular pub, which has been on the High Street for over 200 years, had been closed since Sunday 7th July but last week Punch Taverns said getting it open again was a priority.
Tanya (second left in the photo above) has taken the licence on, although former licensee Dale will still be involved, and she will be bringing in a full-time manager to run the pub for her soon – and she appealed to Red Lion regulars and non-regulars to get back to the pub.
Tanya said: “We’ve had so much support since the pub closed. I think people were genuinely shocked that the Red Lion had closed, so I just had to step in – although I know it’s going to be a challenge. Thanks to everyone for their support over the last week and I hope to see everyone back at the Red Lion helping to make it a pub at the heart of the Stone community.”
Tanya said that live bands would be playing again soon and that the darts teams would be up and running again. She’s also looking to set up a Red Lion football team and looking to start serving food.
