A packed house at The Regent Theatre was treated to a celebration of local talent this May, as students from Rooftop Studios took to the stage for their most ambitious show yet.
Believe! brings community together on stage
The production, titled Believe!, featured every class from Rooftop’s Stone and Leek studios, with performers aged between just two and 82. From energetic street dance to classic ballet, musical theatre to dramatic moments, the two-night run was a real mix of styles and stories.
The performances spanned four shows in total, including two matinees, and saw hundreds of students experience performing on a professional stage – for many, it was their first time under the lights of a major theatre.
Speaking after the final curtain, Claire Simpson, director of the Leek and Stone branches, said:
“We are all immensely proud of our students – they put on a fantastic show and were hugely professional throughout.
This has been our biggest and most ambitious show to date, and is the first time we have performed at The Regent.
It was a real honour to tread the boards at a venue that hosts many professional dance and drama productions.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to our whole team who worked tirelessly in the run-up to and during the run to ensure our students could fully showcase their talents, and to all the parents, friends and family who volunteered during show week to make it happen.”
From toddlers to pensioners – everyone got their moment to shine
The show brought together the full range of Rooftop’s students, from early years drama and ballet, right through to adult musical theatre and contemporary classes. Parents, grandparents, and siblings filled the auditorium, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of support and celebration.
