People in Stone will be gathering to remember on Sunday 8th November 2015 at Remembrance services in the town.
First, a service will be held at the war memorial in Walton (Whitemill Lane) at 9.50am.
Then there will be the annual parade and service of Remembrance at the war memorial in Granville Square and later at St Michael’s Church.
Timings:
10.35am – parade will proceed up the High Street to the war memorial
10.45am – presentation of wreaths
11am – two minutes silence and Service of Remembrance
At the end of the service, Stone Town Band will lead the parade to St Michael’s Church. Following the service there, Stone Scout and Guide Band will then lead the parade back to the High Street for dismissal.
On Wednesday 11th November there will be another Remembrance service at the war memorial in Granville Square. Traffic on the ring road will be halted while it takes place.
There will be a new parade marshall this year – Ian Prescott – after Dave Cumming retired last year following 28 years at the helm.
Also last year, a plaque to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War took pride of place in Granville Square.
