Residents asked to move bins from streets

Green bins waiting for collection on Victor Street - residents have been asked to remove them from the kerbside

Stone residents whose wheelie bins have not been collected by Stafford Borough Council’s crews during the freezing weather have been asked to remove them from the kerbside and place out for collection on the next scheduled date.

  • Anyone who has had their bin missed can either put out three additional bags of general waste alongside the green bin or three additional bags of recycling alongside the blue bin on the next scheduled collection day for that bin, depending which has been missed. The council asks that, where possible, avoid placing glass items in the plastic bags.

A council spokesman said: “Although main roads may be clear, sending a 26-tonne bin lorry down untreated side roads is dangerous to residents, the bin crew, property and other vehicles. Every effort has been made to collect bins that were due last week and yesterday.  However, it has now become impractical for us to return to all areas that did not receive their collection on the scheduled day.”

Very interesting – how has the Council notified residents who are not lucky enough to have access to a Little Bit of Stone , or who are not even on the internet?
