Review: The Play That Goes Wrong

If ever a production lived up to it’s title, it would definitely be The Play That Goes Wrong!

This raucous, madcap comedy had not only me, but my teenage daughter belly laughing & gasping out loud right from the start, and the laughs only got louder as the show went on.

Witty asides coupled with, physical Fawlty Towers type skits combined to keep the surprises coming, and just when we thought we knew what the next joke would be, the talented cast turned it on it’s head & went in another direction.

With fourth wall breaks and clever meta “play within a play” quips, the key theme was definitely expect the unexpected! The show started before we even got to our seats!

Favourites, from the all round brilliant cast, were Graeme Rooney as the hapless roadie Trevor, who’s comic timing & apathetic demeanour combined for a hysterical performance, and Helana Muir as reluctant but adorable understudy.

I would definitely recommend this show to all ages, whether you’re 50 or 15, prepare to split your sides laughing!

You can see The Play That Goes Wrong at The Regent Theatre until 6th May! Tickets for the performance can be purchased at the Box Office, by calling 08448 717 649 or by visiting www.atgtickets.com/stoke,
