Last night we headed to The Regent Theatre to see ‘The Woman In Black’ which was one of the scariest things we have seen in a long time.

If you’re a fan of jump scares or just horror in general, this show is most definitely for you. Walking into the theatre itself, our eyes were immediately drawn towards the simplistic yet incredibly eerie set. Using only a basket, two chairs and a door – this set was transformed into so many different places throughout the show, such as a train, an office, and a house.
To me, the set was one of my favourite things as it was what brought up most of the questions in my head as the show progressed. What was the door leading to? What’s inside the basket? Is there more of a set behind the cloth?

The story is very similar to the one in the film, except it’s a play within a play. Arthur Kipps is looking to produce a play of what happened to him and how ‘The Woman In Black’ changed his life. He thinks that producing this play will help put his mind at ease so he can lay the trauma to rest, so The Actor helps him to produce this play and the woman comes back to haunt once again.
The main reason people like seeing a horror is because they want to experience something surreal, and be left a little bit shaken – and this show does exactly that. Even after previously seeing this show in London, I left The Regent having jumped and been scared multiple times during the performance, and I wasn’t the only one. The show’s jumpscares even had some people screaming. It’s pretty safe to say that this show does not disappoint.
