Rooftop Studios, Stone’s leading performing arts school, is bringing the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Silver Swans programme to town!
The classes will launch on Thursday 4th April with the opportunity to take part in a free trial class followed by refreshments and a slice of homemade cake.
Silver Swans sessions aim to help improve mobility, posture, coordination, energy levels and – importantly – impart the sense of wellbeing that dance brings, whilst offering a gentle yet effective form of exercise.
Studio ballet teacher Miss Verity Caddy will lead the classes, having trained intensively in adapting ballet teaching techniques and content for older adults – including working around conditions such as knee and hip replacements, COPD and others, meaning sessions are suitable for all. The classes will be held in Rooftop’s purpose-built dance studio on the first floor above the High Street arcade.
Silver Swans is one of a number of new classes set to launch at the studio in the coming months – other new additions to the schedule will include Baby Street Dance for 6 month – 3 year olds on Wednesday mornings from 10.30-11.15am; Cheerleading/ACRO dance for 6-15 year olds on Tuesday evenings and ‘Boys can Dance!’ sessions on Wednesday evenings aimed at helping boys from age 5+ take their first steps in dance and hone skills in a wide range of disciplines.
Studio director, Laura Keeling, says: “Silver Swans is an initiative that we have been keen to get involved in since its pilot in 2017, and we’re delighted that Verity has now officially gained her licence. We aim to develop classes that will engage all age groups in the performing arts, and Silver Swans is a fantastic addition to our adult class programme. The classes will be great fun, help improve fitness and flexibility and offer a great chance to socialise too.”
