Runners prepare for St Michael’s 10k

Last year's 10k took place in sweltering conditions

The 18th annual St Michael’s 10k road race is being held this year on Sunday 24th June.

Runners who want to take part in one of the UK’s flattest courses can sign up now at the St Michael’s 10k website. Six-hundred places are available and the race has hit its capacity before race day for the last four years – so it’s best to book in advance!

The two-lap race along the A34 and the A51 starts on Lichfield Road by St Michael’s First School, which is also holding its summer fayre on the same day. Prizes and medals will be presented after the race in the school hall.

Last year’s overall winner was Stone’s Ben Gamble of Tipton Harriers. The course record, however, was set in 1989 at 29:46 by local runner Martin Bishop.

Saint Michael’s School, where the race starts,  is off Lichfield Road NOT Newcastle Road.

    • Doh! Thanks for pointing this out Harry. I know it’s on Lichfield Road as my daughter’s a pupil there! Must have been having an off day. It’s been changed now. Thanks again ^Jamie
