Runners in Stone who want to take part in this year’s Stafford Half Marathon have been urged by organisers to get their entries in.
The deadline date for entries has been extended, with an extra 500 places added to this year’s race, making it the largest field for more than 20 years. Now, registration for the Stafford Borough Council-run event will be held open until the 2,500 capacity is reached.
People can register in person at the Gatehouse Theatre, Eastgate Street, Stafford, by calling 01785 254653 or online here.
The 27th Stafford Half Marathon will start in the town centre at 10am on Sunday 20th March. The route will head off into Stafford’s surrounding countryside on traffic-controlled roads, and includes two steady climbs before returning to the Market Square via Victoria Park.
A School and Family Fun Run is also being staged on the day.
Councillor Mike Smith, cabinet member for leisure, said: “I urge all those who want to take part in the 2011 race to get their entries in quickly. This event just keeps getting more popular which is why we have added extra spaces this year. The Stafford Half is now rightly seen as one of the top races in the county’s sporting calendar.”
