Harry Frear, a 12-year-old local boy, has embarked on a heartfelt mission: to run 200 kilometres in memory of his late father, Paul, who passed away unexpectedly last September. In doing so, Harry is honouring his father’s passion for running and raising funds for ‘A Child of Mine’, a charity providing support to families like his own.
A Tribute to a Shared Passion
Paul Frear’s love for running was a bond he shared deeply with his son. While Harry and Paul often ran together, Kate recalls that Harry had started to outpace his father in their recent runs. “He’d be so proud,” Kate says, reflecting on her son’s journey.
Overcoming Challenges
Harry’s journey has not been without its hurdles. In early January, he faced health issues that required hospitalisation, causing a delay in his running challenge. Undeterred, Harry resumed his endeavour on January 28th and is determined to complete the 200 kilometres by February 28th.
Community Support: A Surge of Generosity
The response from the community has been nothing short of remarkable. Harry’s initial goal was a modest £100, but as of his latest update, he has astonishingly raised over £2000. “I didn’t think it was going to be possible to reach my target, let alone 20 times that,” Harry shared in a recent update.
About ‘A Child of Mine’
