South Staffordshire Sailing Club are offering new sailing taster sessions, for those who want to imagine the wind in their hair and the exhilaration of learning a new skill, with the confidence of having an experienced RYA qualified instructor at their side.
The sessions take place on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons at Gailey Lea – just off junction 12 of the M6. Taking a sailing taster session at no cost is a fantastic opportunity to find out whether dinghy sailing could be for you or your family.
Sailing is a great sport for all the family. Gayle Norbury, who has been a member of the club for many years said, “Both my daughters started to sail from quite a young age. The skills they gain seems to give young people such confidence which stands them in good stead for the rest of their lives and it’s much more affordable than people tend to think.”
Welcoming both adults and children in hour long taster sessions, bookable in advance, an experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of how to sail a boat on the picturesque lake.
All you need is comfortable clothes, trainers and enthusiasm to get started. The club will provide buoyancy aids, boats, the water and an introduction to the joys of sailing. It’s a perfect way to try out something new, get on the water and have some fun.
Rich, who is organising the taster session said “We’re always delighted to welcome visitors to our sailing club and give people a taste of what sailing is. There’s no commitment – just come along and enjoy having a go!”
There are hour long timed slots available on Sundays and Wednesdays, all bookable online. Just visit the South Staffordshire Sailing Club website for the dates available.
