Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is appealing for volunteers to help in its charity shop in Stone.
If your well-intended New Year’s resolutions are already long forgotten, becoming a volunteer at your local Salvation Army shop is a great way to redeem yourself and extend the season of goodwill, by not only doing something positive for yourself, but also giving back to your local community.
Stone’s Salvation Army shop sells everything from clothes and accessories, to books and household items. Area Manager for SATCoL, Christine Westwood, comments: “We rely on the generosity of our volunteers because they play such a vital role within our charity shops. Perhaps you have a flare for shop window dressing, maybe great customer service skills, or even have a good eye for an antique? No matter what your experience, there are all manner of jobs we need help with, and we provide all the training required.”
“There’s also the opportunity to become a volunteer Key Holder, which is a position of responsibility with the opportunity to get involved in lots of different aspects of running a retail business. If you think you can spare any time at all, from just a few hours to a few days per week, then please do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.”
Profits SATCoL receives through the sale of donated items contributes to The Salvation Army to help fund its valuable work with people who are vulnerable and in need across the UK, including homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents, support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales and a Family Tracing Service. Over the last five years alone, SATCoL has donated over £39.5 million to The Salvation Army.
