Sandon Hall to host literature festival in support of Staffordshire Women’s Aid

Sandon Hall Literary FestivalSandon Hall will play host to Sandon Literature Festival on the weekend of the 10th and 11th of September 2022, with all profits being donated to Staffordshire Women’s Aid.

Since 1776, Sandon Hall is the ancestral home of the Earls of Harrowby. The bucolic estate and glorious Stately Home boasts pleasure gardens and 400 acres of rolling Staffordshire parkland. The Hall, steeped in its own fascinating history, is the perfect setting for literature lovers to let their imaginations wander.

All-day festival tickets are available, alongside speaker-specific tickets for the hour-long sessions. Authors will be signing copies of their books that are available to purchase as Waterstone’s Stafford will be in attendance with a pop-up book shop.

The programme includes non-fiction favourites such as Stuart Lawrence and former Stoke-on-Trent MP Tristram Hunt. Downton Abbey Companion writer and the author of The Mitford Murder series Jessica Fellowes and Katie Fforde, British Romance and #1 bestselling author of uplifting feel-good fiction writer can be found in the fiction department. Caroline Montague, organiser of the literature festival is also hosting a session with Jane Bailey all about “Hatching a Novel”. She says: “Books have always been my passion and to have the opportunity to see and hear all these incredible authors at Sandon Hall is an unbelievable privilege.”

The team have decided to partner with Staffordshire Women’s Aid “a specialist service who have been providing Domestic and Sexual Violence Services since 1976.” with Caroline Montague being a recent patron. Their values of passion, empowerment and trust encapsulate the literature event.

Today Sandon Hall is an award-winning wedding and events venue and is still home to the Harrowby family. Conroy, 8th Earl Harrowby is fully occupied running the Sandon Estate, while his wife Caroline Montague, Countess of Harrowby, is the author of several novels published by Orion.

They both have a passion for literature and the arts, and are custodians of the remarkable Sandon Hall library which showcases an extraordinary collection of books from down the centuries. The literature festival fits perfectly into the calendar of events that Sandon Hall Offers.
