Sandon Hall’s First House and Garden Tour of 2019

A rare opportunity to to see behind the grand doors of Sandon Hall will be available when the Earls of Harrowby’s privately owned home will open it’s doors to visitors this month.

The tours of both the 1852 house and its garden on the 17th of November will include a delicious afternoon tea in the ticket price.

The house tour will also offer a glimpse into elegant country house interiors and regale the history of the hall and the family that has called it home for over 200 years. Historical highlights to include the story of the stunning Chinese wallpaper in the Drawing Room, which pre-dates the current hall by around 100 years. It will also tell of dramatic events – such the disastrous Christmas dinner that led to the hall burning down in the 1840s; and the rather morbid tale behind the portrait of a Prime Minister that graces the Dining Room.
