School campaign to raise £2500 for defibrillator

Christ Church First School in Stone is looking to raise £2,500 for a public-access defibrillator that would be available for use by the school and the local community.

The school – in Northesk Street – is working with local company AED Donate to raise the money through a crowdfunding campaign.

If the money is raised, the defibrillator will be installed outside the school to be available 24 hours a day. Access is gained to the lockable heated cabinet after calling 999 and receiving an access code. This process allows the patient to receive the appropriate vital therapy before the arrival of paramedics or community first responders. If the defibrillator is placed on to the patient who is in cardiac arrest within three minutes, they will have a 70% chance of survival.
