Severn Trent has postponed its works in Station Road that were scheduled for later this month after concerns were raised on the impact to traffic in the area.
The work – which had been delayed from June – was due to start later in July and would have seen the closure of part of Station Road. The works will now take place next year. Severn Trent works will continue in Mount Road and Mount Avenue in September as planned as as part of its £1.2 million project to prevent sewer flooding.
Ben Gannon, programme engineer at Severn Trent, said: “We’d like to thank the local community for their feedback and patience while we carry out this essential work in Stone. After listening to our customers and finding out that other important utility and construction work is taking place in the Station Road area in July, we made the decision to move the closure as we were also concerned about the level of disruption it would cause.”
This delay won’t affect the work being carried out on Mount Road and Mount Avenue in September. The work in Stone is being done to make sure that the sewers can cope during heavy rain and prevent further sewer flooding.
Ben added: “We’d really like to thank the local community for their understanding while we carry out this important work to upgrade the local sewer network.”
