Stone will be transformed into a giant Advent calendar in December again as the fifth Advent Windows project marks the countdown to Christmas in style.
For the fifth year, Christ Church is co-ordinating the project and 24 shops and businesses have signed up to host the windows, all based on Christmas carols, to tell the wonderful Christmas story. An extra aspect this year will also remember the 100th anniversary of the Great War, so all windows should also feature a poppy somewhere.
Each day in December a window will be revealed at 11am and the window’s carol will be sung, so please go along whenever you can to join in the singing and to see the High Street come alive with Christmas cheer! Maps and programmes will be available soon.
On Christmas Eve there will be a marathon singing trail around as many of the windows as can be managed, starting at Lock Keepers Salon on Stafford Street (just down from The Swan) at 9.30am and finishing at Christ Church to view a wonderful display and enjoy lots of lovely refreshments.
There will be lots more information on the Christ Church website, and you can also follow them on Twitter and see lots of lovely photos and videos from each of the window’s opening on their Facebook page HERE
