Stone’s Lymestone Brewery has scooped a silver medal at the Society for Independent Brewers’ awards in Nottingham for its special Halloween ale.
Stone Dead won the silver medal in the ‘Porters, Strong Milds, Old Ales & Stouts’ category. It was pipped to the post by Chiltern Brewery’s 300s Old Ale. Beers were judged in eight categories and were blind-tasted by a panel of experts and beer lovers. The competition was held at the Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival, which runs until Sunday.
It was a great competition for Staffordshire breweries. Stoke’s Titanic Brewery picked up a gold award for its Captain Smith’s Strong Ale in the Bottled Bitters category, while Slater’s Brewery, based in Stafford, won a bronze medal for its Haka in the Strong Bitters category.

Hi Brad. Congratulations on the silver medal! I haven’t tasted Stone Dead yet to be honest but I had a pint of Stone Brood from The Swan at the Food & Drink Festival, which is just lovely. Keep up the good work!!
