Site manager Kirk scoops Pride in the Job award

Pride in the Job
Kirk Raine with his latest awards

With four NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards already under his belt, senior site manager Kirk Raine from Stone has gone on to lead his team to victory once again – this time scooping a coveted Regional Award and Seal of Excellence in the NHBC 2015 West Region Large Builder category.

Kirk, who won the award for his work at David Wilson Homes’ Webbs Meadow site in Lawley Village, Telford, also achieved a site customer satisfaction rating of 98.9 per cent in the most recent NHBC survey.

[box type=”shadow” ]Kirk said: “Although it is nice to win these awards and be recognised, another important thing for me is to get each house right for the customer to move in. Winning awards is all about team effort. I try to be firm but fair and I have good quality contractors working with me. I also work with the sales team and the customer too. Add to this good health and safety standards on site and the effort put in to win the NHBC Awards – and that is how we have achieved a high customer satisfaction rating for the site.”[/box]

Speaking of how he achieved his award and customer satisfaction success, he said: “You have to start from day one when you are setting up the site. You have to ensure that all contractors work to high standards of quality in all trades when constructing a home – from the foundations upwards throughout the build. And this applies to absolutely every property on every site. I am lucky in that I have both good managers and a good site team on board.

“I am also very passionate about my job, I enjoy the work and I want things to be right from day 1 – and that is another factor in winning awards. I was over the moon when we won this latest award – as were the whole site team and the management too.”

[box type=”info” ]Kirk, who is 43, has been in the construction industry since he was 16, having started as a bricklayer. He continued as a bricklayer until the age of 27, then went on a management course before becoming an assistant site manager at 28. He was promoted to site manager when he was 30, before becoming a senior site manager at 35.[/box]
