Six weeks of roadworks to begin on Newcastle Road from Monday

Cadent, the gas infrastructure company, will begin six weeks of roadworks on Newcastle Road from Monday, with multi-way traffic lights affecting those entering and leaving Stone.

The multi-way traffic lights will be covering the majority of Newcastle Road, including the junction with Trent Road, as Cadnet renew hundreds of metres of gas pipes and property connections.

The roadworks may not run the entire length as highlighted below, they may be broken up into shorter sections for instance, but these are the traffic alerts we’ve seen that cover the overlapping time frames.

Footpaths will be closed during the works with dedicated pedestrian walkways created where necessary.

Looking at the traffic notices there are various dates spanning the works but they begin on Monday 7th September and are scheduled to run until 23rd October – however as we’ve seen before these dates can shift dependent on weather, programming of the works and the schedules.

The notices indicate that the closure will be from 91 to 221 Newcastle Road for the road and footpath closures and you can find the most up to date information on the one.network roadworks website.

We will, of course, keep you updated via our social media so always check us out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

If Cadent are doing the works it will take a further 10 weeks to remedy the damage they do to any road surfaces. Follow this by a 6 months for relevant bodies to investigate the continuing complaints and another 24 months for Cadent to then fail to make the required repair works and another 2 years of depression by road users before someone else actually finishes three repairs caused by Cadent’s ineptitude.
