Six years in prison for Wine Cellar knifeman

The man who robbed The Wine Cellar in Stone in September has been jailed for six years.

Nicholas Overton, aged 35, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Monday 28th October for a total of nine knifepoint robberies in North Staffordshire and Cheshire, including the Stone corner shop in Oulton Road on Sunday 8th September.

Overton had absconded on August 28th while on day release. During the Stone robbery, he stabbed Wine Cellar worker Pat Stonier in the hand. She needed four stitches in the wound.

Police issued CCTV footage the day after the Stone robbery and Staffordshire Police worked closely with Cheshire Police to bring Overton to justice.
