Sound investment as Stone business helps Granville’s turn up the volume

When a local live music venue needed a sound system upgrade, they turned to a familiar face. dB Audio Solutions, based right here in Stone, stepped up once again to deliver crystal-clear audio, and a reminder that local businesses backing each other is music to everyone’s ears.

From jazz legends to jam nights

Ask anyone in Stone where to go for live music and Granville’s will likely be on their list. The bar and music venue has been serving up good vibes and great gigs for decades. And behind many of those gigs? Local audio expert Dave Ball of dB Audio Solutions.

“I’ve known the venue since around 1994 when Adam Jones owned it,” said Dave. “I used to provide the sound for George Melly, China Crisis, Acker Bilk, Alan Price… to mention just a few.”

In fact, the first full system Dave ever installed at Granville’s was back in 2005 for Adam. Two decades later, the connection with Granville’s is still going strong.

Fast forward to 2025

Owned and run by Dave Ball, dB Audio Solutions is based right here in Stone and specialises in pro-audio services for venues, events, weddings and everything in between. Their motto is simple: Your Sound… Our Business.

Three years ago, Dave and his team installed a fresh system at Granville’s under current owner Grant Pullen. With a busy spring and summer on the horizon, it was time for another upgrade.

“Three years after us opening and dB Audio Solutions installing our original audio system, with an expected busy spring and summer upon us the time was right for an upgrade,” said Grant.

“The process with Dave was painless. He knew exactly what we needed and the process from design to installation was seamless. We’ve got an awesome system and I want to say a massive thanks to dB Audio Solutions and the team.”

What went into the upgrade?

The new set-up includes:

• Audac VEXO108 loudspeakers, replacing the original ATEO6s
• Audac SMQ750 amplifier powering the main system
• Two Audac BASO12 bass speakers housed in bespoke enclosures that also double up as high tables
• The original SMQ350 amp, cleverly reused and bridged to support the added bass speakers
  

“The upgrade brings extra low-frequency energy (LFE) to the space, making Granville’s live shows even more immersive,” said Dave.

“A special thanks from the team also went out to Deb for the early open and Annick for staying late. Just another sign of the community spirit that keeps venues like this ticking.”
