Speeders snared in A34 operation

Two drivers were reported for speeding on the A34 in Stone and 20 were warned or cautioned in a road safety operation in the town on Thursday.

Road safety officers from Stafford Borough Local Policing Team carried out the operation between 10am and 12pm on Thursday 8th August between the Aston and Walton roundabouts on the A34. A total of 1,000 cars were checked using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.

  • Fair comment, however have you seen the traffic on the north bound side in the morning? It’s rammed! Also, you would want to conduct the operation at it’s quietest because there’s room for cars to speed rather than at the busiest.

    Secondly, it was an ANPR operation which will catch disqualified drivers, no insurances, vehicles tied to other crimes, etc.

    Why don’t the Local Policing Team choose a time when the roads are at their busiest,7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm, to conduct their operation between the 2 roundabouts. There are several times when using the pedestrian crossing by Redwood Avenue that I have had to stop crossing as cars speed through the red light, or pull up so sharply they nearly cause the car behind them to crash in to them.
