St Michael’s cooks up a Jubilee event

Guests tuck into their BBQ food at St Michael's Church

St Michael’s Church held a special jubilee BBQ on Friday. It was a ticketed event costing just £5 which included drinks, food and games on the lawn.

Around 50 people attended, which raised funds for the church’s upkeep.

Nicola Abbott, church warden, said: “We only had 36 on thursday and we have just had people flocking to buy tickets. It was great to see so many happy faces and the atmosphere was tremendous!”

The BBQ was handled by Gavin Riley and Jack Taylor of 5th Stone St Michael’s Scout Group.

Jack said: “It was great to take the food into the church and have the faces of the people turn and clap  with excitement and thanks. At the end it was great when the people were leaving and they all thanked our efforts, it just made the day!”
