Stafford Borough groups can still grab a slice of pandemic fund before tomorrow’s deadline

Local groups are being urged to apply today for grants of up to £1,000 for organisations to help communities in Stafford Borough affected by Covid-19.

The deadline for applying for a Stafford Borough Council Small Grant is tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd February. The fund is to be used to support facilities or services that provide support to residents and communities who have been affected by the pandemic. It can include projects to help with food and prescription needs, or initiatives to tackle isolation and loneliness.

The council fund is administered by the Community Foundation for Staffordshire which is an independent charity dedicated to strengthening local communities across the county. The money of between £200 and £1,000 can go towards equipment, training or running events, for example.

Councillor Jeremy Pert, Cabinet Member for Communities and Health, said: “There has been so much great work going on across our borough during this pandemic by volunteers and organisations – and we know that extra financial support can help them reach even more of those who may be isolated or vulnerable.

“Given the exceptional times, we felt it important to run an additional funding round to help support those organisations that have done such sterling work in our communities over the past year. With only a few days left before the deadline I would encourage any group that thinks this money can help make a difference to the work they are doing to get their application in now.”
