Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service will feature on ‘Rip Off Britain’ this week on Thursday 15th September as part of an investigation carried out by the BBC on ‘graphene heaters’.
After receiving a call late last November fire investigation officer Kelvin Knapper came across a new type of fitted ‘graphene’ heater in Staffordshire after an incident.
Said Kelvin “After investigating a house fire involving an electric heater I realised this was an entirely new type of heating system so decided on further investigation. I contacted the supplier and Trading Standards as I had concerns that potentially this incident could have caused serious harm to the occupiers and any others who may be using it. On further investigation I discovered there were a number of related incidents with similar appliances nationally.”
The heater is part of a conceptual intelligent heating system which uses new technology but some companies supplying the systems in the UK have not complied with Trading Standards.
The BBC’s ‘Rip Off Britain’ team have been investigating failure of honoured contracts by some supply companies.
Fire Safety manager Kelvin is based in Hanley can be seen on BBC this Thursday 15th.
