Stone Rugby Club produced a dominant display to overcome a stubborn Leek 3rds side in the autumn sunshine to join early pacesetters Cannock 2nds at the top of the Merit League.
Tries from Matt Harte (3), Tom Parker (2), John Bekalo, Simon Shiner and Joe Powell were the difference between a Stone side brimming with creativity in the backline and a Leek side whose foundations were built on a strong pack.
The superior ball playing skills of the Stone team was the main difference between the teams in what was a physical and testing encounter. The victory extends Stone’s winning streak to five games coming into a crucial part of the season.
