Stone actor lands Blood Brothers role

Jorden, right, in Blood Brothers

Stone actor Jorden Bird will be in for something of a homecoming when the musical Blood Brothers hits the Birmingham Hippodrome later this month.

Jorden, aged 30, will reprise his role as Eddie, one of the set of twins who give the show its title, and will star alongside Wet, Wet, Wet frontman Marti Pellow, who joins the cast as narrator.

Former St Joseph’s College pupil Jorden is a seasoned stage and screen actor, with credits in productions as diverse as Mamma Mia, Robin Hood and Giants In The Earth alongside lead roles in The Lounge Act, Endlessly Now and Of Marriable Age and numerous appearances in music videos and TV adverts.

He honed his skills in Stone as a member of Rooftop Studios’ Stagecraft Dance and Drama School, where he took LAMDA (London Academy of Music & the Dramatic Arts) drama exams before winning a place at the prestigious Guildford School of Acting where he gained a degree in musical theatre.

Jorden said: “Blood Brothers is a real classic. It’s fantastic to have landed one of the leads in what has proven a very popular production and it’s going to be great to come home to perform in the Midlands, as I spend most of my time based in the West End. It’s a pretty punishing schedule as the show is only running in Birmingham for two weeks, but it will be great to get the chance to catch up with family and friends.”

The show will run at the Birmingham Hippodrome from Mon 22nd October to Saturday 3rd November. For schedules and ticket prices visit www.birminghamhippodrome.com. For more information on the range of Stagecraft dance and drama classes at Stone’s Rooftop Studios visit www.rooftopstudios.co.uk
