This weekend see’s two Stone residents taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s “Brave the Shave”
First up we have Rory McIntyre-Pell who says:
As some of you know I have a great beard And a fair bit of hair on my head. I am willing to shave it all off to the skin in order to raise money for this cause. If we can reach £2000 Nolan Reynolds will shave his head and beard as well! This is a big sacrifice for Nolan as not only does he have an equally great beard but he also has scars on his head from a car crash he was in, most of these are covered by his hair but he is willing to bare all for such a good cause!!! Get donating people!!!!
It will take place Sunday 31st July at Langtrys Pub.Donations can be made at – https://bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/rory-mcintyre-pell/
Also taking part is Co-Op manager Mary McNaught who details her reasons for taking part:
Through the years I have been touched by cancer through family and friends. I was 10 the first time it hit our family, my sister and I moved into our grandparents home whilst our mum was being treated for cancer. We would visit her several times a week and spend hours at the hospital, unfortunately she never came home. This was an extremely difficult time for my brother, sister and myself but life went on.A few years later I was 17 and cancer hit again and our father passed away. Throughout my adult life other close family members, work colleagues and friends have suffered from this terrible disease. Life is precious and we need to do all we can to treasure it, look after it and live it. I’m braving the shave to remember those that have passed and help those in my very small way that are going through the pain cancer brings.
Mary’s public shaving will take place at theCentral England Co-op, Stone High Street. You can watch her Brave The Shave and enjoy their bake sale with some lovely treats all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
