Stone care home invites community to first open day

Shoemaker Place Care Home Open DayStone’s Shoemaker Place is set to open its doors to the local community on Saturday 14th October, between 10am-2pm where attendees will get to tour the home and enjoy a beautiful buffet.

The residential care home, likened to a five-star hotel by residents and their families, has provided high-quality permanent and respite care for dozens of older people from Stone and the surrounding areas since it opened its doors in May 2022.

The home’s Activity Lifestyle Facilitators, Gail and Emily have invited two local country singers who will be on hand to ensure those visiting, alongside residents and staff, are entertained.

Shoemaker Place is part of Borough Care, an award-winning residential care provider with ten care homes in Stockport and two in Staffordshire (with another on the way in Uttoxeter in 2025). The not-for-profit organisation believes everyone should be encouraged and supported to live their best life, whatever their age, health, or capabilities. Instead of settling into a grey existence, they choose to live ‘life in colour’.

Shoemaker Place is rated 9.9 out of a possible 10 on the UK’s largest care home listing site, carehome.co.uk. One review from a resident’s daughter-in-law notes how the home is ‘a truly warm, friendly, welcoming, organised and above all professional, responsive, compassionate, and high-quality care provision. The home is spotlessly clean, aesthetically pleasing, cosy and light. The choice of healthy home-cooked menu is varied, tasty and attractive. There is a bespoke service to residents to ensure their individual needs are met.’

The home features 66 single bedrooms, divided into discrete households, to better reflect independent living and allow more personalised care. If you need a little more space, 10 larger, studio-style suites are also available. Residents relax and socialise in a selection of shared spaces, including a choice of dining rooms and living rooms, a cinema, a café, a garden room, and a beauty salon. The layout is designed to be particularly helpful to people living with dementia and an array of other needs.

To ensure the comfort of those living in the home, those interested in attending the Open Day are kindly asked to phone or email ahead to register their interest, however, anyone popping in on the day will be more than welcome.
