Stone carer Emma Bird prepares to shave her head and donate her hair for charity, aiming to raise funds for a minibus for the local cancer support group Pink Sisters & Misters.
A Carer’s Compassionate Act
In a remarkable demonstration of selflessness, Emma Bird, a carer at Stone’s Shoemaker Place, is stepping up to the fundraising plate for a cause incredibly dear to her heart.
An Encounter with Resilience
In Emma’s words, “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. While I was receiving treatment, I was introduced to the Pink Sisters & Misters Cancer Support group.” This fateful encounter sparked a bond of resilience and camaraderie that has profoundly impacted Emma’s life and is motivating her upcoming fundraising initiative.
The Grand Gesture
She discloses her upcoming act of charity, “We’ve got the Pinks festival coming up on Saturday, the 29th of July, and I have decided on this day to have my head shaved and donate my hair to charity. My hair means a lot to me as I love my hair, so this is a massive thing for me to do.” Emma is not just parting with her beloved locks but also seeking to raise funds for a cause she holds close to her heart.
Driving Support for a Noble Cause
The proceeds from Emma’s initiative will contribute to a much-needed minibus for the Pink Sisters & Misters. This minibus is intended to facilitate trips for cancer sufferers and survivors to the group’s caravan, purchased from previous fundraising efforts. Emma is keen to help make these crucial retreats accessible to more individuals dealing with cancer.
