The ambitious conversion of a historic flint mill in Stone into a beautiful family home will be featured on Channel 4’s The Restoration Man on Wednesday 8th January.
Alan Appleby and his wife Dora took on a huge restoration project in Stone – a historic 18th century flint mill near The Mill restaurant that was on the verge of falling down.

Restoration Man George Clarke filmed in Stone throughout the project – starting back in 2011 – and he uncovers its unique history and the link between this building and the world-renowned pottery and ceramics of Josiah Wedgwood. He also visits nearby Mostly Lea mill in the Moddershall Valley.
Alan told A Little Bit of Stone: “Dora and I are not sure which sofa to hide behind when we watch the show as we don’t get to see a preview before it’s broadcast!”
The Restoration Man featuring Alan and Dora is on Channel 4 at 8pm on Wednesday 8th January.

Couldn’t agree more Steve. What an amazing achievement by Alan and Dora – they’ve done Stone proud! Such dogged determination to see their vision become a reality – a lesson for us all 🙂

I worked for Alan in the Estate Agents many many years ago. Looking forward to watching the show.
