Councillors who represent Stone and Swynnerton could be the new mayor and deputy mayor of Stafford Borough – if they both retain their seats in May’s borough council elections.
At the full council meeting on 24th February, Councillor Stan Highfield, who represents Swynnerton, was nominated for the office of mayor for 2011/2012. Stone Councillor Philip Leason was nominated for the office of deputy mayor.

Both councillors will be contesting borough council elections on 5th May.
