Stone couple Emily McBride and Thomas Carson had a lucky Friday the 13th when their baby was born this morning in the back of a police car!
Emily and Thomas were braving the snow and ice as they headed on their way to the Royal Stoke hospital this morning. Unfortunately whilst on the way some Friday the 13th luck struck their car and it broke down. Officers from Staffordshire Police were alerted to the plight of the expectant couple so they picked them up in their police patrol car, making a bee line for the hospital.
With their blues and twos on the police were racing with mother nature as baby was making plans of its own! Hospital staff were on standby for the special police delivery but baby had other ideas on when they wanted to be brought in to the world. Upon pulling up at the hospital Emily couldn’t hold on any longer, so with the aide of hospital staff, Emily and Thomas’s baby Darcey was delivered in the back seat of the patrol car.
Following the birth mum and baby were transferred in to the maternity suite to be checked over and get to know each other.
Now the important facts, that everyone wants to know in these situations.
Darcey Carson McBride was born at 8.56am on Friday 13 January, weighing 6 pounds 9oz.
Both mother and daughter are doing well.
The father was relieved, but the police officers needed a cup of tea and the patrol car’s back seat…well let’s not mention that. Its fine now.
