Stone couple, James Webster and Rosie Jones, have today opened the doors on their new High Street shop – Love to Pre Love – selling quality affordable pre-loved items at the former Staffordshire Newsletter offices.
We caught up with James and Rosie to hear more about their new venture.
First up we wanted to know more about the team behind the shop:
“Our team consists of the two of us and we have kindly had help off both families in getting ready for the shop to open which has been great.
James is in the property maintenance and has an Electrical background as well as pat testing Portable Appliance Testing business. He also has a full tier waste carries license and specialises in House Clearances and originally was looking for somewhere to store items but instead came up with the idea for this business to give back to the people of Stone as we feel this will benefit many people in our community.”
It was from an increasing number of house clearances that the idea of the shop was born with the pair telling us:
“James got a lot of house clearance jobs and some of the items that people didn’t want any more just seemed too good to throw away and he knew people would appreciate these things that he has found along the way.”

Based in the long-vacant former Staffordshire Newsletter office, above Betfred on Stone High Street, we asked the couple what drew them to this location.:
“We both live in Stone and have always loved the town and community so we thought it was a no brainer.
We decided on the building because it’s in the heart of the High Street and although it is on the first floor it offers more space than some of the smaller shops we looked. We will make the stairway as accessible for everyone as we can.”
We asked how they’d describe their shop to someone so they could get a feel for what was on offer:
“We would describe the business as a ‘second hand’ shop, we sell affordable, good quality gifts and products such as Electrical items e.g. fridge freezers, Tv’s, Kitchen equipment such as kettles, toasters, we PAT Test all items to make sure they are safe we’ve got a variety of everything here are some examples:
Children’s games and toys, women, men’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, DVDs, CDs, antiques, memorabilia. We have something for everyone.”
“We think we will be different from other businesses in town as we know we haven’t got anything like this in the town centre and we hope that our business is what people will appreciate with our good prices but good quality items.”
You can find Love to Pre Love over on Facebook -> Love to Pre Love and we wish James and Rosie all the best with their new venture.
During 2020 Stone High Street, like many across the country, has been massively affected by the pandemic. It’s great to see Love to Pre Love following The Cakery (The Cakery comes to Stone) and opening in October. There are at least a couple more town centre shops opening in the coming months and we’ll bring you details of those when we receive them.
Also, don’t forget that each Saturday until the end of 2020 there’s FREE parking at two of the town centre -> Stone Town Council invest if FREE parking.
And last but certainly not least is the news that we shared about FIVER FEST coming to Stone this October – lots of local independent businesses took part in this event in February with many £5 offers.

Looking for a price for house clearance in Barlaston

Wishing this new venture all the success it deserves. What a shame the town is not taking the same attitude!
It was with a heavy heart I read that the Christmas lights won’t be going on in Stone.
I can understand a grand switching on is not advisable but a little bit of “cheer” would make all the difference to the people of Stone in these troubled times.
We all crave normality and the pleasure of seeing the lights over Christmas is surely not too much to ask?
