A team of 10 cyclists from Stone’s Velo-M Cycling Club will be raising money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice on 15th May at the Dougie Mac Bike Ride.
The Dougie Mac Bike Ride starts at the Michelin Athletic Club in Stoke, with cyclists given the choice of a 10-mile local route, 50-mile Nantwich route and 110-mile Llangollen route. The Velo-M cyclists have gone for the 110-mile option!
One of the club members – Spencer Stone – will be honouring the memory of his grandfather on the day. Spencer’s grandfather Ron Stone passed away recently after being diagnosed with cancer, and he will be raising sponsorship to thank the Douglas Macmillan Hospice for their support.
Spencer said: “I think any organisation or group that can make a difference in those last difficult stages of someone’s life should be supported and this event is a great way to do so.”
Suzi Smith, head of corporate fundraising and events at the hospice, added: “We’d like to thank Spencer for signing up to support the Dougie Mac Bike Ride alongside members of Velo-M Cycling Club. All monies raised from the Dougie Mac Bike Ride will support local patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses.”
If you’d like to take part in the Dougie Mac Bike Ride too, you can register HERE (entry is £15 per person).
The Velo-M Cycling Club is organised by The Velo Store in Stone.
