Allscott Ladies 1 – Stone Dominoes LFC 1
Stone Dominoes LFC have started off very positively in their pre-season training, and have planned for some very tough pre-season games. The first one being Allscott Ladies, a team who play in the West Midland Premier Division a mere two divisions above the Dominoes. Due to the heat, the game was split into thirds rather than two halves. Much to Allscotts surprise, Stone dominated much of the first and second third with lots of possession creating opportunities on goal. Vikki Garner, Laura Baskerville and Lydia Bennion all coming close to score. Stone played some confident football, keeping the ball and making the Allscott players chase in the heat. Substitutions were made who made instant impacts, keeping the dominoes side on top of the game.
Allscott were awarded a penalty for a dubious handball in the area. Their striker calmly putting the ball in the back of the net 1-0 Allscott. Stone responded extremely well and within a few minutes the ball was played from midfield to Simone Kelsall at left back, Kelsall placed a quality ball over the defence and to the feet of Vikki Garner to knock over the keepers head. 1-1. During the third half Kerry Mccourt could have taken the lead for Dominoes after taking a quality free kick, the Allscott keeper pulled off a brilliant save to keep the score at 1-1. A great result for the ladies, however even more important was the effort put in by all players. New players have slotted in to place and providing this effort continues, dominoes look like a strong contender for the league title this season.
