They earned their place in the first round proper with a fantastic 3-1 win away at Coventry City Development on Sunday (8th November). Two goals from Mollie Prime and an effort from Hannah Perry put Stone 3-0 up after an hour. Despite a late Coventry goal, the result was never in doubt as the ladies put in another superb performance to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Central defenders Hayley Mason and Becky Arnold had an excellent partnership and put their bodies on the line numerous times to block shots or make last-ditch tackles. Stone’s central midfielders Jules Kendrick and Siobhan Haynes worked tirelessly with the help of Hannah Perry, who dropped at times to help out against a Coventry midfield three. The whole Stone team were confident and calm under pressure, with great ball retention on a poor quality pitch.

So now they head into the first round proper and the Wembley dream continues! Congratulations to everyone at the club on a wonderful achievement – you’re putting women’s football in Stone firmly on the map.
